Gang of Eight

gang_of_four_s.jpgIt's odd the Lake Travis Republican, property-rights-friendly community would seek to condemn the Grumbles family property to build a school bus barn and sports complex. Maybe they're undergoing a cultural revolution. "Takings" are OK, after all, if the community needs to park their kids on your property.

Jueri suggested a nice alternative location the Gang of Eight should consider:Golf-Bus-Barn.jpg

We know why they didn't consider that proposal. The Grumbles aren't developing their land, they're just living on it. Ag-exempt, I'm guessing. It's not producing tax revenue. And since it's not on the market, it doesn't have a provable value, as Falconhead would. (As if it's even conceivable the board would condemn a thriving golf club). So the Gang of Eight sees an opportunity to "purchase" this land at a steal of a price, and they won't have to fight a corporation, just a patsy individual family.

Funny but I heard of a rape defense last year where the girl said, "no, not for sale". Nevertheless, the rape ensued and although the rapist gave her the going rate he was inexplicably jailed. Go figger.

Richard Grumbles said:

I agree that the reason for looking at our property is that they think it will be a very quick steal but they should not be fooled into thinking we cant defend ourselves with some very good attornys. We may live very simple but that is just how we were raised. My very existance has been challenged. The side with the most to lose will prevail more often than not.
